Easy to use

I just bought the Brother SE-350 a couple months ago. It replaced a 75 yr. old machine I had bought used when I was a teenager. Sewing machines sure have come a long way since my old one was made! I thought I would be overwhelmed with this new one, but I just took it out of the box, read the easy instructions, and I've been using it every since.

I am so pleased with this little lightweight portable. Its perfect for taking to classes and when you want to sew elsewhere other than at home. I own 2 other Janome machines that I have had for about 5 years (the 6500 and 300E). I recently spoke to a sewing machine repairman who felt they were the best on the market. There was no question that I would buy another Janome since read more I know how they work and have been so happy with the other two I own.

I wanted to try machine embroidery, so I purchased the Brother SE-350 machine. You can't beat the price and the machine works like a charm. Everything I tried came out just perfect. Also, it is more than just an embroidery machine with LOTS of stitch patterns to choose from......even a variety of buttonholes, that look professional. I would recommend this machine to anyone......in read more fact, I HAVE recommended it to two of my friends! They are as pleased with theirs as I am with mine!

I'm enjoying every stitch on my new Juki TL98Q and mini pini frame. I used to hand quilt my quilts and this is faster and looks dynamite. I taught myself from the book that came with the machine. This was a great addition to my sewing room.

I purchased this machine after my Gem Gold wore out after 15 years of use. This machine is absolutely wonderful. The buttonhole stitch is just what I needed for my latest project. It made me glad, my Gem quit working, so I could have this upgraded model.

This light does everything it says it can do. It's great for unsewing when the colors otherwise appear to be an excat match. It is also useful taking to classes when the classroom lighting is substandard. Easy on the eyes.

I see posts about the automatic threader - another thing to watch is that you are only pressing it from the top. I have had my machine for 2 years now and never had a bit of trouble from the threader. This machine is not like any other sewing machine that you can figure out the threading - it is a definite must read the instructions kind of machine.

I've been quilting now for six years. And through the years I've seen quilting friends using the Janome machines and heard them rave about them: they are lightweight, very quiet, easy to use, great features, etc. One Sunday morning my Pfaff quit on me and I was desperate for a machine (way too many unfinished projects). I went to purchase a new machine and fell in LOVE with the read more Janome AQS-2009 - American Quilter's Society 25th Anniversary Machine. I saw one at a quilting class and it was lust at first sight. A friend wanted a machine for piecing and quilting and I recommended it. I borrowed his to test drive and bought one for myself. It's strong, it's quiet, it's needed only one repair in six years (but I do have it serviced annually.) The one thing that could be improved is bobbin capacity. New from SewingMachinesPlus the read more bobbin would only fill 2/3. My local machine guy reset some chip inside the top and now my bobbins fill completely. I recommend it for anyone getting into quilting--as much for what it doesn't do as for what it does do. No starting a seam and having to rip out zigzag, no accidentally pressing a function button. It comes with the presser feet I use everyday. And it's affordable.

I have been using this machine for quilting for two years. What a joy!! Easily handles free motion or "stitch in the ditch". Large table helps to control large projects. Speed enough for the fast and controlled enough for those detailed projects.

I LOVE this machine.....Since receiving the CE150, I have not put it away - it is set up and ready to go at a moments notice. This is the first computerized machine I have ever used, so getting started was a little slower for me (plus the fact I'm using Windows Vista - so I required a patch to download the software correctly). But once I'd overcome that hurdle, I was up and running. read more And the additional software that comes with it .....fantastic - I have tried them all, and they work beautifully.I have to say it one more time - I LOVE this machine.

I love this machine. I have owned mine for several years. The manual has a lot to be desired. It does not advise as to bobbin size for replacements nor does it give any detail on the stitch variety. It is a trial and error to get what you want. The machine is very smooth and adjustments are easy to adjust for various materials and threads. I would recommend this machine to any mid read more level seamstress or crafter. It will sew through denim seams. Mine came with the excess material sheer as well.

#1 machine: the Juki TL 98Q

1 day from now

I purchased this machine in 2008 for quilting and still think it's the most amazing dream machine. I love the large extension table, needle up/down, the knee lift and the fast bobbin winding. The extra width and height to the right of the needle makes quilting very easy. The machine sews very fast with excellent stitches and is so easy to use. As a novice sewer the ease of using read more my Juki boosted my confidence and helped me to keep working on my skill level. The occasional problems I had came from me learning to adjust tension, bad thread choice and old needles. The only downside is the bobbin. The space it goes in is very small and although I have little hands it is still difficult to insert the bobbin.I have been diligent with cleaning and oiling so my baby has never gone to the repair shop to be serviced. (I'd rather give them my husband)I can see this being the only machine a person would need for a lifetime. If I wasn't retired I would purchase a second one of this model!

It's Operator Error

Susan S.
1 day from now

I just want to say to the people complaining about the bobbin that it is usually operator error and not the machine. You will hear this all the time from beginners. What you need to do first is make sure the bobbin is wound tight and not mushy or the thread will sneak out around the edge and cause a big problem. It's NOT the tension. Also when the thread "balls up" on the bottom read more of your fabric it's NOT the bobbin thread or tension. It's the TOP thread that isn't properly threaded. ALWAYS keep your presser foot UP when threading the machine so that the thread gets between the tension discs. When the presser foot goes down the discs close and there is now tension on the top thread. In 20 years of sewing I've only had to adjust the tension maybe 10 times due to the tricky fabric. When you buy a new machine the tension is ALREADY set for you. Don't fool with it! Please try the above things and see if your machine doesn't work perfectly! (I know these are old reviews but maybe someone buying a new machine will read this and give this machine a chance!)

I have had this machine for 10 years. I do many types of sewing. Quilting to garment to crafts. I have never had a problem..the only issue I had was I couldn't get the self threader to work. This machine's software works great with Vista. I began using my machine with windows XP and had to get a new computer and am now using Windows Vista with my machine. I had one or two issues with some read more embroidery, but it was my error. I LOVE my machine.

I love, love, love this machine!! I purchased this machine around the end of 2009. It is still going strong! I love the speed and control of this machine. And the foot control with the thread cutter is fabulous! I can go from one piece of fabric to the next without ever having to touch my thread snippers! The knee lifter is another feature I couldn't live without, as well read more as the needle up/needle down feature. I sew my own clothing and this machine's speed helps me accomplish so much more in a short amount of time. It's easy to oil and thread, although I cannot figure out the auto-threader. For years I wanted an industrial machine because of the speed, but didn't want the motor noise they produce and didn't know if anyone could carry it upstairs to my sewing room. Then there was maintenance issue; who would come to my house if I had a problem with it? This machine can easily go to the repair shop if needed. But I've never had a problem with it. It arrived packed nicely in the box. I like the large table that came with it as well. The machine is very well made and sews beautifully. I have two other Swiss machines (beginning with "B") and they don't compare to the strength of my Juki - and they cost much, much more. In fact, the computerized one is packed away in the closet. This is a fantastic machine at a very good price.

I have had this machine for seven years. Never a problem. I use Embird software and it works like a charm. Most problems are user error. Read the book and keep it cleaned and oiled.
