I paid $149 at singer.com and Joann has it for $149 on sale. That's why mist think its a better machine than it is. Never buy anything according to the price.

I bought this serger about 3 years ago and have used it 3-4 times a week for my home based business ever since. I was hesitant to buy it because of the low price but it does what its supposed to do beautifully.I have recommended it to family members who also have had no problems what so ever.

Hi I got the singer 14sh654 overlock machine as a christmas gift a year ago,it's a real good overlock machine it's real easy to use, and the differential feed is a must have.it's also easy to do the blind and the rolled hem on this machine. How ever threading the lower looper is another matter it's hard to thread it, if you have a thread that breaks use a flashlight because it's… read more very hard to see in such a very small space. I have the same problem as Linda...I have not been able to make one item without having to work on this thing. It will not sew a stitch without breaking threads, the lower needle keeps coming unthreaded or breaks. It is impossible to get the stitch set properly. I HATE this serger! I have never been able to use it without becoming in tears from frustration.
