Juki Pearl Line MO-654DE 2/3/4 Thread Serger Review

Solid machine

This is my first serger, so I don't have another to compare it against. It is solid, has suction cup feet that help with stability, I was able to sew right out of the box with little to no adjustments needed (anything that needed fine tuning was user error). I tried many fabrics and the Juki serged through them all effortlessly. The DVDs are a let down. The workbook for projects… read more has two projects on it. The DVD for machine use is OK and will answer basic questions. Online tutorials are very helpful.

Great product, astonishing price!!

I love Juki products, they are built well and easy to operate. I took my new Juki sever out of the box, set it up, put thread on the spool holders and serged beautiful seams!!! No fiddling with tension needed, I love it!!

Good purchase

Great machine hard to thread last needle behind the bar can not even get the little needle threader in to use it so tight. It takes about 20 min just for that one needle but other thread easily. Runs very quietly does a beautiful stitch. JUKI sergers are the best

I love this little workhorse of a machine! And this is my second order of a JUKI. and with this SALE, it was more than affordable. I now have one threaded with a white and a black. Powerful and performance

It has the power of an industrial serger for a small budget. This serger plows through 5 heavy layers of fleece without a hiccup! I've had 2 Bernina sergers, janome, white and a huskylock and none compare to the power of this Juki! I read reviews for days and decided on this serger. Second Machine and Counting!!

I love this machine. This is my second one; I bought it so I can just keep black thread on it. I make post surgery clothing that I sell on-line and want to purchase one more for white thread in the near future. Machine sews great and is fairly easy to thread (for a serger).

I'm glad I bought the Juki MO-654DE

I am a new serger user, the Juki MO-654DE has been great, It took me only 2 times to thread it properly and, I am working my way through the different stitches, getting a feel for how they look with different materials. The first project I worked on was putting together a Muslim mock-up of a new pattern. This machine makes even basic tasks fun!

Wonderful Machine!!

I had this machine for just over a year before it was destroyed in a fire. I loved that the tensions were so easy to work with. I wrote down which tensions worked with which fabric and which pattern. The tension was consistent and worked every time without having to fiddle with it. I settled for a different brand and I am so unhappy. I am hoping to replace my Juki MO-654DE… read more soon. Great serger!

Great serger. Powerful, quieter than others I've owned, and very smooth stitching. The manual could be written better with more detail on stitch settings, uses, etc. But overall I think it's a super value for the price. Shipment was delayed by a couple of weeks due to it being back ordered (and this wasn't indicated on the site at time of purchase, but it wasn't too bad a delay.

Sews Great but a Pain to Thread

I love how this machine sews. It just hums along even on denim. The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because it is a royal pain to thread. I wish I had bought a self-threading machine.

Game changer!!

Like others who reviewed this serger, I started out with a Brother 1034D since I wanted a simple, inexpensive model to learn on. What I found out is that it is a maintenance headache. Thicker fabrics throw off the timing - I learned to adjust this myself since I didn't want to spend $150 every time it was off. But it seemed that I had to adjust it every time I started a new project.… read more With the volume of client work I'm doing I realized I needed a workhorse... fast. Enter the Juki MO-654 from Sewing Machines Plus.

I spent some time with it on taking it out of the box. Juki has some good videos to help you get familiar with it. It's more complicated to thread "from scratch" than my old Brother machine. However, I think the more secure thread path prevents breakage and other problems, meaning less time spent threading. I have run many different types of fabric through this machine, from thick upholstery to thin broadcloth. It takes it all and works consistently from one project to another - EXACTLY the workhorse I was looking for!! Also runs quieter than the Brother and already has paid for itself in maintenance that I don't have to do. Can't recommend this machine enough.

I am very happy with my charger purchase! Since receiving it I have seen several other websites and blogs that highly recommend it as well. It was simple to thread and I have been able to try out the additional stitches. Solid serger, good value

The serger came quickly and was packaged well. This is a preliminary review as I have only had the serger a few weeks. If you have used sergers before, you will find this one threads in a similar manner. The threading guides are clearly marked and it is easy to view all thread paths. The tensions discs are easily manipulated allowing quality stitch on various thicknesses of fabric.… read more The suction cups on the bottom of the machine help in making it very stable on the work table. This serger is capable of very fast serging but, equally important, I can accurately serge around curves at a much slower and controlled speed. I have not yet tried the rolled hem. I mainly use the 4 thread overlock and am very happy with this machine. It is a good value and hopefully will last many years.

Beautiful little machine

I was using a very old Baby Lock serger and finally decided to replace it. I am so happy with my new Juki. It took me a little while to figure out how to thread it, but now am quite confident doing it. The machine sews beautifully. I haven’t tried all the different stitches it’s capable of doing, but am looking forward to experimenting soon.

I haven't had the chance to use the machine yet due to the holidays but it is just fantastic. I purchased it after reading reviews,the construction and overall abilities. The only thing is the warranty on the Juki machine that comes with it is only a few years verses other popular machines on the market today. You have the option of purchasing additional coverage but I think… read more the company that makes the machines should offer a longer warranty than it currently is. I believe that all companies that make products like the Juki serger, should stand by their products, if they are as good as they advertise it to be. That is my opinion only. Other than that it is a beautiful machine and I can't wait to use it and all it's capabilities. This has nothing to do with Sewing Machine Plus, they were wonderful, helpful and their customer service is outstanding.
