A Wonderful Machine

If you are a beginner or a Seamstress like I am. You will not be disappointed at all. I purchased this machine to take to my Sewing classes. I use it for my alteration business as well. I haven't sewed anything yet that this machine can't handle. I Love it because it is light but sturdy.

This machine is a delight to use. It was ready to go right out of the box and had an instruction booklet that was very easy to understand with clear illustrations. I consider myself somewhat of a beginner to intermediate level in sewing skills. Still on a learning curve. Usually I make clothes, crafts, household items, but am not into quilting. I love this machine! It is exactly what I wanted. I reviewed tons of sewing machines with a list of "must haves" and this machine had them all. I wanted a mechanical machine with a heavy duty cast motor that could do a good number/type of stitches, a button hole option and a top loading bobbin. I can even sew on buttons with this machine! This machine sews smoothly and has… read more a good control foot pedal. I love that Janome machines hold their value and are welcome as a trade-in when ready to branch out. For the money, you cannot beat the value of this machine.

Best Machine Ever!

I am brand new to sewing, been sewing for a month now. I have sewn on six different machines during this month, from a 1950's Pfaff to a computerized high-end Viking. None compare to this Janome. AMAZING is how I would describe it. It is nearly as smooth as butter, accurate food pedal speed (doesn't take off on you), sews through many layers of denim with scarcely a protest,… read more and it does sew beautifully off the edges of fabric; the other machines I have used either tangle, will not finish the stitch or will leave a loop when sewn off the edge, but not this machine. It closes each stitch beautifully, effortlessly. A must-have machine for a beginner sewer. And I think it would have much to offer an experienced sewer as well. Negatives to be aware of: feed dog drop is located in back of machine under the extension table cover (have to remove table cover to expose free arm to get to it - awkward); accessory tray is not very practical in size/shape and has trouble unlatching and relatching - I kind of have to tip up the machine to get it in or out; does not have as many accessories as some other new machine. These negatives are only a small nuisance, and shouldn't be a deterrent, as this machine is fantastic.I couldn't be happier with my purchase!!!

I've been sewing for over 60 years. When I retired and downsized our home I bought a different machine, that I really hated. I didn't use it often until I started quilting 5 years ago.
