Unfortunately the machine kept on jamming to the point of it locking up. I finally gave up and will be sending it back. I have another Janome that I purchased about 4 years ago and it works great, I'm thinking that I just happened to get a defective one and if it had worked it would have been great.

Love this machine

This machine is a basic mechanical machine. The construction is heavy duty, has a great selection of specialty stitches and is easy to use and adjust. This machine is so sturdy, it sews heavy and multiple layers with ease.

I am a professional seamstress that has never had a good machine at home. During quarantine I started making masks & got fed up with beginners machines that were broken or just didn't work.
I'm a professional. I've worked with machines that only straight stitch. I don't need anything to be fancy; I just need it to -work-.

Good Machine

I was looking for a good mechanical machine with nothing computerized for making quilts and found it.

The feed dogs are awesome with even pulling of fabric. The drop feature is great and free motion is on this machine is amazing. Quick bobbin winder. Easy dial selection for stitches. The on board light isn't bright, easy fix with replacement of LED. Easy to thread.

Only… read more safety issue, the machine will run when the pressure foot is in the up position.
If you're a quilter, I recommend oiling the machine on a regular basis, especially the bobbin throttle and vaccum to remove any lent.

Starting to question Customer Service quality! Need to return defective machine!

I received the machine on 12/7/19 The box was open under the outside plastic (see picture) when received. I took pictures just in case. I finished unpacking the machine and let it sit overnight because we live in Wisconsin and it is winter I wanted to make sure everything warmed up adequately. Started to sew with it on 12/8 when sewing it made a lot of nesting on the bottom at first… read more but that was an easy fix by adjusting the tension. But then while sewing it revved up and stopped stitching! - like a car does if the transmission is going out. I sewed a while longer and it did it again? I called customer service they said I had to pay shipping to send it back unless I spoke to a technician. I think it rather ridiculous that I WOULD HAVE TO pay for return shipping on a defective product! So I asked to speak to a technician. They transferred my call and I spoke to a gentleman and explained the problem with the machine not stitching just revving up - then it would stitch then it would rev and stop stitching again, pretty intermittent. He told he would have to have someone call me back tomorrow 12/10 @ 5pm - No one called! It is Christmas and I am very busy - still no call and it is 12/12 and too late for me to call them back today after hours. So I will have to try again tomorrow. Wish me luck people.
