I purchased this machine for my granddaughter for Christmas. It seems to be a good entry level machine. All the reviews I've read say it is. I'd give five stars to the machine itself, but only four to Sewing Machines Plus because all elements of the bonus package were not sent and I've received no follow up email saying when the bobbins are to be sent. I am very good with my machine. I mostly sew knit but have sewn demin sewing in the hems on jeans with no trouble. It's a very easy machine to use.

Great machine

This is a great machine. I was looking for a good quality machine as a starter and this had all the options I was looking for and at a very good price. Janome is a great name and has a history of quality products. I would recommend this machine to anyone, unless you are going to be doing a lot of heavy duty sewing like leather, etc. have had no problems with this machine even on… read more heavier items like thicker nylon, I just had to use a more basic stitch, and it worked well even with the standard needle. Very easy to service and maintain, and this is my first attempts at machine sewing.

Great beginner machine

Great machine for a first time sewing machine. It really makes you feel like you're doing the work rather than some of the more automatic machines. Slightly upset that I didn't get the free needles in the package I wished they would've notified me first before buying so I could buy some additional ones at least.

I LOVE Janome! Simple to use (most of the time) and yet can do so much! It's easy to transport (keep my best Janome 6500 at home) and take this smaller one to quilting retreats.I'll always come back to Janome when I need another sewing machine.....they're affordable without breaking the bank!.......and it makes me feel good to produce a piece of quilting.....a block, a strip,… read more a binding......that I made on my Janome!
