I love this JADE 20! Thank you so much. Works well, no problems at all. So easy to use, sews nice, and so quiet. I don't have much room, and this takes up so little space, and looks nice. So glad I purchased it. Price was VERY good.

Nicely Compact Viking at a great price!

I found the Jade 20 on sale during the pandemic mid-May (2020) and couldn't pass up the deal.

I wanted to get an affordable utility machine to be used as my mobile sewing machine when away from home, like working on a project at my mother's, a friend's house, or a quilting class, etc. The stylish way the machine packs up without a separate carrying case or cover, really… read more appealed to me. I have a Husqvarna Viking Diamond embroidery & sewing machine that I don't like to transport.

Although I did look into the Jade 35, I really don't need another embroidery capable sewing machine, otherwise, I would have gotten that, but I would certainly recommend it for someone looking to get into machine embroidery and needs to stay within a tight budget....Plus, you absolutely do not need to buy the expensive Viking software that many of us have. You can use just about any embroidery software on the market that fits your budget (i.e. Embird, SewWrite, SewArt, SewWhat Pro, Wilcom Hatch, etc.).

Husqvarna Viking brand machines have always been my favorite since 1980 when I got my first one as a teen (a 5710 painted in the old 'Viking burgundy red' color). I've traded up over the years to my current sewing and embroidery machine, the Husqvarna Viking Diamond. All of my Vikings have been made in Sweden, until this Jade 20 (Made in Thailand) so I'm curious how the quality compares. So far, it's seems comparable.

The Jade 20 is definitely a lighter weight sewing machine than my older Vikings, including the Diamond, which is perfect for transporting....the primary reason I got the Jade 20. I still have some older 6570 model Vikings, which are mostly metal and quite heavy that I really don't like lugging around, but they come in really handy when I've held sewing classes for friends or someone needs to borrow a sewing machine.

Today (June 6, 2020), I've been going through many of the stitches on the Jade 20, including the decorative, plus winding bobbins, and getting used to the overall lay-of-the-land and so far, I'm quite impressed! Sure, it doesn't have the bells and whistles on my Diamond, which I don't expect it to have (i.e., embroidery, auto presser foot lift, thread cutter, touch screen, auto tension, etc), but the Jade 20 is an excellent lower priced alternative with all the features someone who sews needs, without breaking the bank.

As for other reviews stating that threading the needle is difficult and the presser foot area is cramped, that is perplexing to me because it doesn't seem all the different from my Viking Diamond. The needle threader works well, although it isn't quite as smooth to operate as my Diamond, it certainly does work effectively. Whenever threading any sewing machine, the presser foot needs to be "up" so the upper thread seats properly into the tension disks.

But if you've already threaded the upper thread and just need to thread the needle, you can then lower the presser foot in order to use the threader, just be sure that the needle is at the highest position or the threader won't line up with the eye of the needle. When the presser foot is "down", the thread will not pull easily from the upper thread, so be sure to allow some slack in the upper thread first if you lower the presser foot to use the needle threader.

From what I've seen so far using the Jade 20 myself and watching Sara's YouTube videos under 'Heirloom Creations', I'd say it's a solid machine and a great value for the price point, whether found on sale or not.

My New "Husky"

It took a while to get here because of the current health situation but it was so worth the wait!! This is my first computerized sewing machine and I was a little nervous to indulge in a machine that cost more than a hundred dollars but my husband said he was tired of me fussing and fighting with bent and broken needles when my current machine was being asked to do more than it… read more was meant to do. The brand is a reliable brand and I'm thankful I found it at Sewing Machines Plus and on sale! I read the book first to understand all the new bells and whistles and was up and running in no time. Easy to use, easy to understand instructions and fairly quiet.

Husqvarna Viking Jade 20 - seems like a good buy so far. Packaging could have been better.

Its good price when compared to retail stores near by. The shipping is fast but little delay to reach my destination due to distance and covid. The package is sent as it is came with the sewing machine box. It is not sent with another brown box at the top. The packaging came damaged but the product seems to be functional.

Jade 20 overview

For a small machine it's capable of doing a lot of different stitches. It is a bit difficult to achieve a perfect 1/4 inch seam but it can be achieved with some maneuvering.

Lack of Customer Service

It is taking me a while to learn this machine. I went from a manual machine to a digital one. Big learning curve. Not any help in the manual. I did contact you through chat and she said she would have support contact me. That was 3 days ago. No call. I think I figured it out on my own. So I am not loving the customer service here.

Not made in Sweden!

Very nice machine. I gave it a 4 rating because the Husquarna machines boast they are made in Sweden, and that I why I chose this brand. Much to my surprise, my machine was made in Thailand! Very disappointing. But overall, it performs well.

It's a learning curve, and my verdict is still out.

There are many things to like about this sewing machine. The storage/case is well planned and attractive. The decorative stitches sew beautifully, and the needle threader works quite well.

One of the reasons I selected this machine is that so many reviews stated how quiet it is. I found it to be quite loud. The light isn't as bright as I would like, and the space around the… read more threading area is quite tight for my large hands.

I am trying to decide whether or not to keep this machine; I don't hate it, but I don't love it either. I realize that there is a learning curve associated with anything new, so I'm trying to use the machine as much as possible and to be open-minded.

Not the same Viking quality in durability

Motor overheats during appliquing providing E2 error code. Otherwise stitch quality is excellent. Very disappointed that green bobbins purchased at the same time to go with the machine don't work in it. Your company should not show these bobbins as an accessory for this model. A good machine at a very good price

I had a Viking 1100 and just loved it. I had it over 30 years and simply wore it out. I ran across the Jade and the price was good so I bought it. I had lots of extra feet for the 1100 and they fit the Jade --Ya Hoo. I am very pleased with the machine and the price was also great.

Distinct Characteristics

This machine has some distinct characteristics, so before you use it, be sure to REALLY study the manual in depth. Then try each procedure along with the manual. It took some getting used to, but then it gave me great confidence in the quality of the sewing process. A solid machine with beautiful design.
