I have really enjoyed using this machine. It is so easy to use. So much better than my sewing machine. You have so much room and the material just glides through. For stitching around embroidery be sure and buy the glide foot it is wonderful too.

The Sweet Sixteen is my first mid-arm machine. I am still learning and improving everyday. now I can make quilts for my family and friends from start to finish. I actually enjoy manual stitching to the Tru-stitch regulator.

Finally got the machine I've been dreaming of

I love this machine and can't wait to spend more time working with it. I have not had much sewing time until my studio is complete. I was pretty new to quilting, if you can believe it, when I bought this machine. I had retired and quilting is something I’ve always wanted to learn and do. I bought a regular machine and loved sewing and quilting but it was so hard to get the quilt under and between the needle and machine neck. I love my new machine, and am happy I bought it, although I am realizing that I probably should have just bought an industrial sewing machine. It would have saved me about $5000. My table and machine both had some damage, but it is mostly cosmetic, so not going to complain about that. My only problems are #1, the bobbin is very inconvenient when using the quilting table, and… read more #2, I did not realize how difficult it would be to maneuver those heavy kingsize quilts around on the table. Sure does build up those muscles! I am hoping that HQ will come out with a full-size quilting machine that I can use my Sweet 16 with. Also, just as an added note, some of the extras are not worth the cost of shipping them. I threw away a few things, like the tiny scissors and the needle threader. They did not work AT ALL. Also, still waiting on my Stencil 2" Heart Loop Border (SCO-03002). It has been several weeks now, so I guess I will email the company again. Beautiful machine; horribly over-priced. I'm still on the table about the whole thing, but am using it anyway.

Best birthday gift ever!

I wanted this machine for 3 years since seeing a demo at a show. I don’t have space for a stand-up longarm and as a senior, love that I can sit. I will say the most important things I learned is to practice, practice, practice. I am not comfortable with the stitch regulator but have been told this will also come with practice. I have been quilting for decades on a domestic machine and this was my dream machine. I chose the sit down model because I have severe arthritis in my hips and knees. I did quite a bit of research before buying an HQ Sweet Sixteen online from sewingmachinesplus.com. The price was great, really great!! I was a newbie (newbies make newbie mistakes) and had a lot to learn...Buying online left me without local dealer support and that had me a tiny bit worried. Well, I shouldn’t have worried. Customer service is really only a phone call away...and… read more they are really helpful! HQ has a website with a lot of info and videos (anything from setting up the machine to learning new techniques) and it was easy to find accessories (like a ruler foot and rulers). Set-up was not hard to do..and my new HQ Sweet Sixteen was definitely worth the investment!

Still learning how to use it I suppose. Fairly simple to use, but like anything else you have to get your own groove and that's what I'm still learning as most of my quilting has been straight line. Pretty easy to set up. Threading it was much easier that I was anticipating.

I loved this machine!

This machine was a very nice compact way to do large quilts which I do almost exclusively, and I purchased it due to limited space. I enjoyed sewing with it, and the only problem had nothing to do with the machine, but bad hands which I have had since my 20's. After having both thumb joints replaced, I traded it for an Avante stand up machine which is also an awesome product!

I love this machine, it was easy to set up and quick learning curve. I had quilted on my regular machine and this is so much nicer with lots of room to work. The stitch regulator took a little longer learning curve but I do like that my stitches are the same no matter how fast or slow I go. Easy and simple to jump right in!

I’ve had my system for a year now and love it. It was very simple to follow videos for threading, tension, maintenance , etc and start using it right away. I bought the easy set tention and stitch regulator but don’t use them. The machine is so consistent that I found it easy to “listen” and feel to keep stitches even. My next purchase will be boot camp!

Great solution for long-arm quilting in small spaces.

Great sit-down long-arm quilter. It fits in my quilting studio nicely and I can move it out of the way when I’m not using it. I bought the side extensions for the table which are really necessary if quilting large quilts but make it very easy to maneuver the quilt. I haven’t yet used the stitch regulator but plan to soon.

I have been doing FMQ on my Janome Horizon for several years, so the transition to my Sweet Sixteen has greatly expanded the throat space and opened new doors for me.
