I bought a Singer Prelude 8280 Sewing Machine. I have been waiting for this product for months and so far they have not sent me the sewing machine nor returned my money. I'm very disappointed.

I used it for roughly 3 years, lots of small jobs .. hemming, repair, reinforcement ... it cannot handle thick or heavy fabrics (cordura, cotton duck, denim), and the speed is very hard to control ... who really sews at 1,300 stitches/min?Now it misfires and fails to catch the bobbim thread, not enough strength to pull back through ... I bought this sewing machine and used it heavily for three years. It's a good machine for a hobby sewer who mainly makes apparel. It doesn't like very heavy or very lightweight fabric. But unless you are doing some kind of niche project, you won't run into that. I had quite a bit of trouble keeping it feeding evenly, but I sew with very heavy fabrics. I bought this machine to make a wedding dress and found that every bit of sewing I'd put off for years came out of hiding just so I could keep using it. Threading and bobbin winding are so easy and the see through bobbin case is a great innovation. Amazing machine!

I have had this machine for about 1 year and am amazed at the quality of machine I have for the price I paid. Being a professional seamstress for over 40 years, I had always used expensive high end machines, yet was at a loss after these were lost in a move. That's when I thought to find out how a Brother machine worked. How fortunate this one came along. It handles everything… read more I throw at it, from heavy jacket zippers to quilting large quilts to yards of upholstery/curtain and wedding dress fabrics. Please read the manual a couple of times. Even though the machine is easy to use, it has details well explained in it. I learned a valuable lesson in this; I don't need to spend a lot of money on a sewing machine for it to be a good one.

Great beginner machine

I inherited a sewing machine from my aunt who passed away. I have never sewn by myself and it's been 25 years since she helped me. I couldn't figure it out. So I ordered this one instead, to help me learn. It's very easy to use. I already finished one quilt top she started. Now I'm obsessed and want to see all the time. They delivered the product with no additional box, it was literally just the product box and this was a Christmas gift for my daughter who couldn't help but see it just sitting there on the porch. You should really consider this when it's around the holidays and put your product in an extra box
